The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Piping Designer to join a growing engineering team delivering major water infrastructure projects.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and coordination of pumping stations, wet wells, pump chambers and associated pipework systems. This position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, supporting the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions across the water sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce 3D models and detailed General Arrangement (GA) drawings using Revit.
  • Develop layouts for wet and dry well pumping stations, concrete pump chambers, ductile iron and epoxy-coated carbon steel pipework, valves and pipe support systems.
  • Coordinate and integrate vendor equipment packages into project designs.
  • Model access platforms, stairs, handrails and maintenance accessways in accordance with client and industry standards.
  • Support and contribute to design reviews, including Access, Lifting and Maintenance (ALM) reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with civil, structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines to ensure coordinated, clash-free designs.
  • Maintain drawing registers and ensure all documentation meets company and client quality standards.

Requirements

  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
  • Proven experience as a Piping Designer within the water industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit for piping and basic structural layout design.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Navisworks.
  • Experience designing:
    • Wet and dry well pumping stations.
    • Ductile iron and epoxy-coated carbon steel pipework systems.
  • Good understanding of:
    • Pipe support systems.
    • Equipment access requirements.
    • Plant layout principles.
  • Experience integrating vendor equipment packages into plant layouts.
  • Familiarity with relevant piping design standards, codes and health & safety requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and develop layouts from P&IDs and equipment data sheets.
  • Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.
